Tunde Folawiyo is deeply loyal to his native Nigeria and Africa as a whole. Through his roles as Goodwill Ambassador, honourary citizen of the city of Houston and Honourary Consul of Barbados, Tunde Folawiyo continues his enthusiastic advocacy of academic and economic growth throughout the region.
Through a profound appreciation for education, Tunde Folawiyo earned a Bachelor of Science degree in economics and went on to acquire a Masters in Law degree from the London School of Economics in 1985. Tunde Folawiyo’s many academic accomplishments paved the way for his continued encouragement of education for Africa’s youth. He currently sits on the board of several academic institutions and is a constant proponent of fostering tomorrow’s young leaders. Tunde Folawiyo also holds a seat on the Governing Council of Lagos State University. As a member of the Global Advisory Board of the African Leadership Academy, a Pan-American institution dedicated to economic growth, political stability and eradication of poverty and diseases throughout Africa, Tunde Folawiyo is constantly leading new initiatives to promote the advancement of Africa’s education system. He also proudly serves as a member of the Duke of Edinburgh’s World Fellowship, an esteemed global network of philanthropists, whose focus lies on youth development.
As one of West Africa’s most renowned entrepreneurs, Tunde Folawiyo continues to make great strides in exploring Nigeria’s lucrative energy sector. In 1989, Tunde Folawiyo acquired the role of Group Managing Director & CEO of the Yinka Folawiyo Group of Companies, a thriving conglomerate with global business interests in industries such as oil and gas, agriculture and real estate. Working toward a constant goal of improving his native country’s economic success, Tunde Folawiyo is the current Vice-President of the Nigerian Association of Indigenous Petroleum Explorers and Productions (NAIPEC). He is also the founder of Folawiyo Energy Ltd. This successful subsidiary of Yinka Folawiyo Group is currently responsible for the throughput of approximately 30% of premium motor spirit in Nigeria.
An honoured recipient of the 2010 African Business Leadership Award, Tunde Folawiyo continues to support Nigeria’s economic advancement, with his involvement in leading Nigerian companies like MTN Nigeria.
